Staycation

I love when friends and family come to visit us here in San Diego County because then we take a little time away from our usual "day to day" to enjoy something about this amazing place we live.

Christina-Nina and Baby Sam braved a long flight from the East Coast sans daddy to visit with The Hammonds and The Smeals.  Any mom who travels with a toddler sharing a seat all on her own is my hero!  I never did it by myself.... because I'm no fool.  Anyways, we loved seeing their smiling faces!  (Though we had to settle for seeing daddy Steven's goofy smile on baby Sam instead - we missed you Steven!)

First we went to Moonlight Beach in Encinitas - a beach none of us had ever really hung out at before.  We got there early right before the morning clouds broke up and the beach got crowded.  We splashed in the drainage river where the water was significantly warmer, soaked up some sunshine, and froze our tootsies in the waves.  This was a couple of weeks ago before the intense heat wave we are having now.

Then everyone came over for dinner at our place where the putting green usually takes center stage and the toys are aplenty.

The next day us ladies took the kids to the zoo and wore ourselves out.

We had a great time with our friends and a great time enjoying San Diego!
