I caught the tail end of picture day at school last week and snapped this picture. Jackie is sitting in the front between boys.
She is doing really great with school. She drops off easily. She's excited about making friends. She comes home singing school songs. She really seems to have grown up so much in the last couple of months. Many of her classmates are experiencing school for the first time and some of them are still struggling a bit, so Jackie is a great example and leader. Some of her classmates haven't even turned 3 yet! Jackie is the oldest in the class because of her birthdate and the public school cut off dates. But I can tell that she has confidence, and that makes a big difference.
I am enjoying being in the classroom occasionally to help, although it's a lot more work than I thought it would be! And I volunteered to be "Room Parent". I'm such a sucker. But it does allow me the opportunity to reach out to other parents and get to know people more. Chris and I threw a get together for the class and parents at our neighborhood park this week. Most of the class showed up and it was great to see the kids bonding more outside of the classroom and to put names to the parents' faces. It's a great group of families that are clearly very involved. I am feeling blessed.
