Jackie-isms

Here are some of the funny or sweet or smart things our kid has said recently:

Randomly while driving Jackie says to me, "Some people don't have kids."  Then she asks, "Jess has a baby in her belly?"  I say Yes.  She asks, "What's the baby's name?"  And I say that Jess hasn't named him yet.  And she says, "Let's think of a name...... Babya!"  (as in baby-a)

While playing at home one day, Jackie says, "Watch this trick. You never did this when you were a kid."  Then she does a funny leaping skipping running thing.  Then she asks if I did that when I was a kid.  And I say, "I think so."  And she says, "I think not."

Jackie likes to rhyme.  She sometimes makes up words just to make rhyming sounds.  She is definitely comprehending what rhyming means and will point out when words rhyme.  But one day out of the blue she says to me, "Zapatos (shoes in spanish) and ducks rhyme."  It look me a second to figure out that I needed to translate ducks to spanish.... Patos.  Yes baby, zapatos and ducks rhyme... sort of.

When we put Jackie to sleep, naps and night time, we don't stay with her and cuddle or sing and wait for her to fully fall asleep anymore.  This is a major milestone and now that we've accomplished it, it feels amazing and works great.  She started doing the cutest thing when we leave her in her bed to fall asleep on her own.  In a big rush, the words all jumbled together real quick, she says, "I love you and I miss you and I'll see you in the morning." And she kind of says it with a sing songy voice.  I really have to try to record it sometime.  It's just one of those things that melts your heart every time and I just never want to forget about it when she gets older.  But, that's why we have this blog right?
