Advent 21-25

Day 21: Again, mama forgot to fill the calendar!  I was so sick the night before that I went to bed in a feverish, swallowing razor blades, stuffy headed fog.  The next morning Jackie was again looking in her calendar, not finding anything.  :-(  Good day to let her open a present early!

Day 22:  Jackie spent the night at her Nana and Papa's so she wasn't home to check her advent calendar.... and she didn't even ask about it!  Having too much fun I guess.  But we went looking at Christmas lights that night and that would have been her advent activity.  We dressed her for bed - though not in Christmas pajamas because I was too cheap to buy them this year and last years were in the dirty laundry.  We didn't have hot cocoa or popcorn or any of the other cute ideas people have for driving around looking at lights.  But we did turn the radio to Christmas music and sang Feliz Navidad loudly with the windows rolled down. I hope to make that an annual tradition that someday embarrasses her tremendously.

Day 23: Seriously, I forgot again?!  At least I remembered before she did.  I got out of bed and filled her advent with a little wind up monkey that plays the cymbals. And the activity = Church.  We went to a Christmas Eve type service, even though it wasn't Christmas eve yet.  It was entertaining and heart warming.  Christmas has officially begun!  And we had Nana and Papa and Uncle John over for lunch afterwards.  It was a lovely day.

Day 24: Christmas Eve - I put sparkly hair clip bows and a tiny chocolate Santa in the advent.  But I had wanted to plan ahead a craft/activity of a nativity scene and mark some bible passages and read a children's bible story.  But, I never got around to planning this.  I was at Michael's one day hoping to find some stickers or a coloring page of the nativity.  Nothing.  I just didn't have the time and energy to make something up on my own or even google search.  Next year I won't put this off 'til last minute.

Day 25: Santa filled this day as well as her fireplace stocking.  She was so excited to see what Santa brought her, she breezed by the advent saying, I'll get that later.  But Santa knows this girl likes pink and glitter and glue.
