Mother's Day

This was the first Mother's Day that I really felt like Jackie knew what was going on and what it was all about and it was so great!  Leading up to the big day, I received a cute little craft she made at school.  And a couple of gifts that Grandma and Nana took her shopping for.

Grandma took her shopping at her favorite store, Claire's.  When she handed me the gift she seemed apologetic, saying Jackie picked it out herself.  I kind of expected that it would be something super pink and juvenile because just two short months ago for my birthday Jackie hadn't quite grasped the concept of picking a gift based on the receivers likes, not your own.  But I was pleasantly surprised to open the gift and find these earrings.  I know Jackie liked them because of the roses.... but I like them because they are kind of vintage-y and quirky.  I especially like the little bee.  They are made of little roses made of bent metal (looking) and painted all different colors and glued in a ball shape.

Nana took Jackie shopping and Jackie came home with a bag full of odds and ends.  But they all seemed to be selected based on my likes.  Like the color turquoise.  Turquoise flip flops and nail polish.  Also, my interest in gardening - gloves and seeds.  She chose a lotion for me.  Stuff like that.  I love the thought of her walking through the store selecting things for me.  So sweet!

Mother's day weekend we went the Farmer's Market on Saturday - which we try to do more often than not.  And all the vendors were wishing me a happy mother's day.  Jackie seemed to get a kick out of it.  She would look at me like I was a celebrity or something and then she'd wish me a happy mother's day too.

On the big day we spent time with all the family - a little time at the winery and then dinner here at home.  It was nice and quiet and easy.  

Age 3 1/2 is just the sweetest.  Jackie says, I am her favoritest mom ever.  And she says that she is going to marry me and everyone will have flower hair clips and flower rings.  She is obsessed with weddings and marriage right now.  And she is free with her I Love You's.  One morning she climbs into my bed at 6 in the morning (ouch) and proceeds to give me what we call "nuzzle noses" - which are eskimo kisses.  And she seems to have wishes and secrets mixed up because she says, "shhhhh..... I have a secret.  I think we should all be together forever."  I am going to miss all her free flowing love someday.  Sigh.
