My beet salad.... I should have photographed all the food, beautiful and delicious.
Chris getting the VIP treatment
We were so blessed to watch this amazing sunset that night. The clouds and the moon made it extra magical.
This was Nana/Papa/Steve/Kathy's last night with us. We had a great time sharing our trip with them. "Steve is funny and knows all about kid stuff", says Jackie. And he is and he does. And Aunt Kathy is always so thoughtful and happy to see Jackie. She treats Chris and me like we are her own kids and she treats Jackie like she is one of her grand babies. She had a little present for Jackie every single day. Bribery for sure. But it worked.
Jackie says her favorite part of the trip was getting ice cream and going swimming. Kids are so easy to please. Yet, I know that taking her to new and interesting places and doing new things is expanding her view of the world. And for us grown-ups.... sometimes you just gotta get the heck outa Dodge, ya know. Some other things we did during our trip......
Chris and I went on a morning hike together:
We also drove out to Jerome one afternoon while Jackie napped. Chris and I took turns walking around the town and shops while she slept in the car. We had never visited Jerome on previous trips and I'm glad we did this time. It was an interesting place to see. We also drove up to Flagstaff through Oak Creek Canyon. We didn't really have a plan; I just wanted to see Flagstaff. I'm sure it's super gorgeous in the winter. Chris, Jackie and I took Jackie to some art galleries and shops to show her all kinds of art. There are a lot of galleries in Sedona.... though I think the economy has been hard on that market because there were some changes since we were there last.
Our trip was 6 nights. And honestly, there were places we didn't go and things we didn't see. Like, Slide Rock area - a place on the river where the rocks can be like slides into pools of water. Probably better for when Jackie is older and when the weather is a little hotter. Also, there is an African Animal sanctuary that is supposed to be neat. But Jackie just wanted to swim. Of course, there's the Grand Canyon and there are some old Native American Indian dwellings. But, there's always next time!
