Then we were back on a trolley tour to the South Side of Chicago. We drove through Hyde Park, saw where the President lives, drove through the University of Chicago campus, saw Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House (from the outside only; we unfortunately didn't plan to visit it because I was concerned that Chris and Jackie just couldn't handle it). Then we hopped off the tour at The Palace of Fine Arts which houses the Museum of Science and Industry. Oh. My. God. This museum was so beautiful, so huge, so cool. We didn't even see it all. I highly recommend it for all people with all kids of all ages. And, get this, last month we bought a membership to our local science museum because we signed Jackie up for science class again. We get a discount for the class that way.... but I still doubted whether we really needed the membership. BUT, our local science museum membership got us into the Chicago one FOR FREE!
Please enjoy a few photos of our adventures:
We went to a demonstration activity thing called Happy Burrrr-thday. Chris and I both got up and participated. It was a liquid nitrogen birthday party. I pulled crushed balloons out of the liquid nitrogen and they re-inflated. And Chris made ice cream with liquid nitrogen. It was super yummy!
We also participated in a demonstration/show about taste and flavor. Jackie and I went on stage together and she drank a liquid and said if it was sweet or salty or bitter or sour or savory. Fortunately the guy gave her lemonade and not coffee!
And of course Jackie's favorite part of the museum was the kid play area they called The Idea Factory.
My girl loves pulleys. No seriously, she has an obsession with them. She's been asking me to rig up a pulley system that she can use to pull her toys up to her castle bed. I'd love to, just haven't gotten around to figuring out how! Volunteers? After the museum we were back on the tour trolley where Jackie fell asleep again. A little nap, back the hotel to change, and then we headed to Wrigley Field!
We were staying right next to Wrigleyville neighborhood so we walked to the game. I'm not even a huge baseball fan (though I do understand the game well; thanks dad!) and I thought it was really cool to go to Wrigley Field. We ate hot dogs; we took pictures; we watched a little baseball; we got cold and tired and walked home. All in all it was another fabulous day in Chicago!

Um, how dare you post that cinnamon bun to a almost 10 month pregnant Mama. Ayayay! It's alll I have wanted since I saw it. A trip to Cinnabon may be in order but seems like it won't compare.
