Easter Eggstravaganza

A catch up on all things Easter:

My girl and I dyed some eggs.  We had a great time experimenting with crayons, markers, paint brushes, glitter glue, and traditional dipping the eggs in dye.  We dropped a couple and peeled them and ate them (well, I ate them.  Jackie was a little dubious).   Jackie suggested that we make an egg for Daddy and said it needed to be green because "he likes green putting greens."

Easter Eve, the Easter Bunny was very busy at our house putting together Jackie's Easter Basket.  The Bunny knows that eating a lot of candy and chocolate means it's important to take care of your teeth, so new tooth brushes, paste, and flossers were included in the basket.  This will be The Bunny's annual tradition here at The Smeal House.  After the basket was assembled and displayed in the kitchen table, The Bunny headed outside to hide the eggs filled with "those spicy candies daddy likes" (Sour Patch Kids) - per Jackie's request.  As well as skittles (Jackie's request) and chocolate eggs, bunny crackers, stickers, bracelets, and other various little toys, including an itty bitty Rapunzel doll.  No surprise, she has become Jackie's favorite disney princess. The Easter Bunny over estimated how many eggs one little girl needs to hunt and will be adjusting next year.
These videos are a bit long and boring.  The very beginning of the second one is really cute so at least watch the first minute.

After the egg hunting.... Breakfast was blueberry pancakes with a side of candy.  Then, after all the morning fun we all got to work getting dressed and cleaning up the house before Nana and Papa and Uncle John came for a visit.  Mama got busy in the kitchen roasting vegetables for Easter lunch at Great Grandma's.  Then we all headed there to visit and eat, watch Jackie play, and snuggle up with baby cousin Kyla.  Why do I always forget to take a picture of Jackie and Kyla together?!  Maybe it's because cousin Jackie never stops moving!  But, here's a picture of the beautiful cookies Jackie made (with Nana's help, but only a little).  Jackie was very proud of them.  She even brought a plate full to school to share with her friends.  And, it was entirely her idea to do so!

Well, Easter has come and gone and left behind ALOT of stuff.  When did this holiday turn into another Christmas?  Maybe it's because my grandparents didn't live so close, and maybe it's because I have a ton of cousins and I am one of the youngest..... because I don't remember receiving so many gifts as a kid.  And I had a great mom who always made a big deal about holidays.  My grandparent's had too many grandchildren to spoil us and my many aunts and uncles had children of their own to focus on.

Hint hint.... by next year, my girl is going to remember the year before and y'all are setting up a precedent you might not want to match.  Feel free to dial it back a notch or two before there are more grandkids and nieces/nephews and you go broke!
