Dia de los Muertos

We went to Old Town on Nov 1st for a little taste of Dia de los Muertos.   We enjoyed a nice mexican food dinner followed by some traditional folk dancing.

We checked out some of the altars and face painters.  Jackie wanted to get something painted on her face.  But then she chickened out last minute so I decided to get a traditional skull painting.  I didn't know at the time that people usually do this in honor of someone they have lost and the painted symbols are some how representative of that honored soul.  I honestly didn't have anyone in particular in mind; I just wanted Jaclyn to experience it all.  I felt guilty afterwards, when I learned the reasoning for the face paintings, like I was dishonoring the tradition.  Still pretty awesome looking though!
Jackie told us a few days later that she was scared of the skeletons.  Oops!
