I know it's been a while..... Here is where we left off, in Tahoe, last week.
While in Tahoe, Jaclyn learned a new phrase. "I don't want". One morning she woke up and it was, "I don't want to take off my jammas." (I have never called them jammas, always jammies or pajamas. funny) "I don't want to get dressed." "I don't want to eat in restaurant." "I don't want to go outside." "I don't want to play in snow." "I don't want to go tubing again." So.... she didn't. She stayed in her "jammas" all day long. Chris and I took turns going out for food, coffee, I got a massage, he went tubing again. I read a book. And Jaclyn never left the condo. And that was OKAY.
Last Day... So after the jamma standoff day (turns out Jaclyn was coming down with a cold), it was our last day; our travel home day. After 3 hours of packing and cleaning up - all done by me (can you hear me grumbling) - we made one last stop for waffles at Red Hut and hit the road for nap time. We drove out of the Tahoe area, commenting on how much snow had melted and how dirty it all looked now and how our trip was so perfectly timed because we got to enjoy the beautiful snow after it fell yet had such lovely weather while we were there, and were leaving just as all the snow was melting away. Since our flight wasn't until 7pm we had a day to fill so we headed to Virginia City. I didn't really know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. Even though it was off season and many museums were closed and tours and the steam engine train ride weren't operating, we still really enjoyed walking around checking out the old buildings, reading a little history, shopping and eating. We took a mine tour which was a short walk into an old mine, straight into a mountain. At the end of the tour we were a good 50 feet underground. Jaclyn was a little freaked out, but she held onto me tight and went with it. Here area few random photos of that day.
It was a long exhausting day. I had thought she would fall asleep in the airport or at least on the airplane. But no, she didn't sleep until she was safely in her minivan driving home. And when she gets tired, she repeats herself endlessly. All she wanted to do was "go in stores", "go shopping", "look at stuff". "Another store mommy". This was one time I wish she would have zoned out on a movie on daddy's laptop. I was coming down with a cold now too. It was rough. We had to walk into the same store in the airport several times so she could look at the Hello Kitty stuff. She said she wanted a kitty suitcase. I said she has a princess suitcase at home and she doesn't need two. Plus we already had too many bags and such to carry on the plane. She said "but I need two suitcases because I have a lot of stuff to carry." Cute right? Yeah, the first time. We truly had this exact conversation so many times that I thought I was in the Twilight Zone. I kept assuring her we would look for a kitty suitcase in the stores at home; that I couldn't buy it because I didn't have another arm to carry it. Thankfully by the next day she had forgotten entirely! Yeah!
