Tahoe... that was, shall we call it a "Trip"? Not a vacation. Two parents and one toddler in Tahoe, staring up at those gorgeous snow covered slopes, and not strapping on skis..... sigh. It was a trip, a chance to show Jaclyn the snow and a chance to go see Tahoe, a place we had never been before. There were moments of brilliance. It was beautiful there. Jaclyn was super adorable and loved it. I got to take bubble baths a few times in a huge soaking tub while reading a book (side note: future home must have a soaking tub) and I did go get a massage. But a vacation it was not. And I came home sick. I came home sick and stared at piles of laundry and undone chores and a kitchen empty of food for several days while I was sick. I didn't even turn on my shiny new white macbook until today. Actually, I didn't even unpack in from my suitcase. Jaclyn has been sick too..... but I definitely got it worse. Ugh....
Cut to the "Real Vacation"

Yesterday I woke up feeling 100% again and super pumped because I was showering, shaving, putting on makeup, doing my hair, wearing heels and dropping off Jaclyn for an overnight stay at Nana and Papa's so I could take my husband out of town for his Christmas present. We drove up to Santa Monica in our swagger wagon (you-tube search this if you don't know) to see a taping of the Chelsea Lately show. Now, I have been a Chelsea fan for so long I don't want to admit it. I stumbled across her book in 2001 I think it was and laughed so hard I cried. It was post college at SDSU and I identified a bit with her previous party girl ways. I immediately passed the book onto one of my college roommates. I never saw the book again, but I remembered her name. Cut to 2010: Chris has discovered the Chelsea Lately show and has immediately developed a HUGE crush on Chelsea. And I am completely okay with the fact that she is the last person he sees before he falls asleep at night. I like to think that she and I are enough alike that there's absolutely nothing to be jealous of. I don't always share my sense of humor with the greater world, but privately at home, she is my inspiration.

Seeing a show tape is not as exciting as you would think... but all in all we had a great time. The anticipation, the preparation, the unbelievably good lunch he had before the show, seeing her in person (and Joe Koi, his favorite round table comedian on the show), the sunset on the Santa Monica bluff, the swanky hotel room, the drinks and dinner and desserts hopping we did from hotel, down 3rd Street Promenade, and back to the hotel, with a pit stop shopping for flip flops because he forgot his and because my feet and back were killing me in those heels! (I don't recommend shopping while drunk, bad bad flip flop choices!) Did I mention the swanky hotel room? Morning stroll at the Santa Monica Famers Market before, sadly, heading home to our real lives. It was only 24 hours, but THAT was a real vacation! Merry Christmas Honey! I'm pretty sure he had a great time....
