Today we drove to a largely agricultural area of San Diego County called Valley Center to go strawberry picking at an organic farm, Stehly Farms.
There are lots of places to go strawberry picking in SD County but after all these years, this was the first time I took Jackie! The place we went was an extensive organic farm that grows lots of different fruits and veggies and has chickens too. We took a tractor tour out to the strawberry fields.
The girls were very excited about finding lady bugs and searching for the perfect strawberries.
Jackie and I each filled up a clamshell and still she wanted more. So she asked me for some money and she ran back to the helpers and bought another one all by herself. She was very excited to come back and tell me it only cost $3 so she figured out the change. She loves math and money!
We still overfilled our 3 clamshells so we had to eat some.
Stehly farms has a petting zoo and a large play structure and a food truck and an outdoor market for their other produce. Bathrooms. Picnic area. The scent of orange blossoms. Definitely worth the drive out there.
I hear blackberry picking is scheduled for May 30th.....
