School Friend

One day when I was working at the school, Jackie was buddy buddy with Carleton that day.  She switches around which friend she plays with fairly regularly and Carleton usually hangs with Cooper but he was absent. So this day these two were inseparable.  I hovered nearby taking pictures and eavesdropping on conversation.  I remember that they were first playing in the sandbox.  Then Jackie suggested they go play with something else, so they moved on to this lego train thing.

I heard Carleton ask Jackie if she'd like to sit next to him during snack, to which Jackie agreed.  Then when they were taking off shoes to dump out the sand, they had a conversation about the color thread on the toes of their socks.
When they went in to the classroom for snack, there were no longer two seats near each other.  They looked so sad and disappointed.  But they handled it like champs.

I was telling Carleton's dad about it later and he told me a cute story about Carleton....

When I was in the classroom helping one cold winter day I helped the kids put on their jackets to go outside.  I guess I showed Carleton the hold your long sleeve while you stick your arm in the coat trick.  So sometime later at home he showed his dad and mom that he knew how to put on his jacket.  And he said, Jackie's mom taught me that.  Aaaaaahhhhh.  This little guy really melts my heart, out of all the kids in class.  He's just so sweet and gentle and calm and patient.  And he's quite a cutie too.  I really wouldn't mind if he and Jackie continued to be friends.
