Chip off the Old Block

Or the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Anyway you say it, one thing's for sure; Jaclyn has inherited many of my good traits and some of my bad.  Super cute inherited trait - below example of her instinctual understanding of what to do with that tape measure she found in the drawer she wasn't supposed to be in.

Not so cute inherited trait - her strong feelings about where something should be kept and her insistence on putting that something back in its original location when someone else moves it.  Sigh.

Yesterday I took out some serious stress on my living/dining room.  The floors, furniture, and shutters haven't been this clean since they were installed.  The 5 second rule was in full affect.... for less than 24 hours.  But we'll get to that later.  So part of my cleaning spree also included some reorganization of Jaclyn's toys.  In my attempt to take back some of my sophisticated adult living room I put the doors back on the Ikea cabinets and I added some additional storage and shifted some things up to Jaclyn's room. When she came home later she immediately noticed the changes and began saying, "Uh Oh" or "My doll doesn't go there" and such and shifting items back into previous locations.  Sigh.

This room was so nice and tidy yesterday!

So after all that work.... Daddy rolled the stroller straight into the living room after walking to the park and Jaclyn came home with sand in her shoes which she tracked everywhere before I noticed.  And while I was beating out the rest of the sand, she pulled the picnic blanket out from the bottom of the stroller and spilled more sand, dirt, grass, and food all over the floor.  So much for the 5 second rule.  I know I know, I'm supposed to be grateful Jaclyn has a daddy that can take her to the park for a picnic on a random Tuesday morning while I go grocery shopping in blissful peace.  But really?

PS - My Dyson, Shark Steam Mop and Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser are worth every penny!
