This month, Mama had a birthday and Jaclyn and Nana baked me a cake, from scratch! It tasted delicious and I know Jackie had just as much fun baking it as we did eating it. There sure were a lot of candles on it!!
I had a nice low key birthday this year. Jackie's cake was delicious. And she picked out a present for me too, though she still hasn't quite figured out how to choose presents with the recipient in mind. She gave me a tiny hot pink purse. I'm saving it for her someday.
And it wouldn't be March if Chris didn't go to Vegas for a couple of days for the basketball games. And while he was gone, us girls went to Disneyland!
We met up with Jackie's friend Sawyer; the one who had moved away late last year. Sawyer and her mom came down for a visit and we took the girls to the happiest place on earth. They had a great time together, held hands and hugged lots. They enjoyed riding the rides and generally soaking it all in. Here are a few pics, and I will post more pictures later when I get some good ones from Sawyer's mom.
Sawyer doesn't often let her mom style her hair, but Sawyer knows that Jackie often wears her hair in pigtails, so she asked her mom to do pigtails like Jaclyn. And her mom gave me a heads up so that I would make sure Jackie had pigtails too. They were pigtail buddies.
Some other March highlights: celebrating a friend's birthday at Chuck E Cheese during the biggest rainstorm we've seen in a long while. Jackie hadn't been to CEC yet. She had a great time! But whoa, it was so crowded due to being a rainy weekend. And so loud. I was extremely happy that Chris came along since he couldn't work in the rain.
Here is a video of the some of the hail we got the next morning. Yes, that's our backyard.
Two solid days of rain and we were all going stir crazy. We invited Jackie's friend over for a play date to help relieve the monotony. The girls immediately launched into princess dress-up play.
They dug into Jackie's dress-up drawer and decorated themselves with jewelry and scarves and crowns. They put on high heels. They said they were getting ready for the ball. Then they needed a carriage, so I was the fairy godmother. They headed to the ball (in the living room), danced for a few seconds, and then they said it was midnight and they ran off, leaving behind a shoe each. Jackie hasn't seen Cinderella yet, but I guess reading the story a few times was enough to understand this game Emilia was playing. They were so adorable and had a blast hanging out together. Emilia's mommy even left her in our care for a little while to run errands. It was the perfect rainy afternoon.
And by 6pm Jackie had passed out on the couch. We tried to wake her with no success, so we just changed her and put her to bed and she slept til nearly 7 the next morning!
You are almost all caught up.
We had a nice family day this week and went to Legoland again (using free tickets about to expire). Then we had dinner at the Oceanside street fair where Chris' parents sell their Plant Rocks (www.plant-rocks.com/). I guess we just weren't in the mood to take pictures that day.
And the best news of the week is that Jackie got a spot in the Spanish Immersion preschool program here in our hometown. She'll start in August. No more driving across the county! And it's so reasonably priced. I am very excited because I see nothing but good things in learning a second language at a very young age and this is really the only way it will actually happen for her, in our budget. Two years from now, I pray she gets a spot in the elementary program too! Jackie seems to be embracing her languages, using more of her Spanish every day. And she says, I speak English and Spanish and Chinese too! I think she thinks she speaks Chinese because her friend Emilia is learning Chinese. What are the chances I can send Jackie to Saturday Chinese school with Emilia too? Hmmmmm
Buenas Noches!
